Artwork Specification for Process Printing

Print Capabilities
• 4- color flexographic process printing YMCK [yellow, magenta, cyan, black] max 110 line screen. Total 8 color capability [E.g.: 4-color process plus 4 line art colors.]

PRINT MARGINS
• Maximum image area is 1 inch less then the width of the bag and 1 inch less than the length. If bag has a doorknob hole, image area needs to be 4 inches less than the length.
• If allowing for recycle emblem and suffocation warning please allow for a total of 1.75 inches less than the length on front of bag and 1 inch less than the length on the back (ie 9 x 23 bag; 8" width x 21.5 front image area 8 x 22 front image area)

ART ORIGIN
• For process color, the computer disk is preferred. Please supply original RGB file in Photo shop format. A full color proof for detailed separation instruction instructions must be supplied.
• Art can be uploaded to an FTP site. Please ask your sales representive for more information .
• Customer supplied color targets are encouraged and appreciated and will be matched as closely to our color range.
• The proof provided on behalf of SBCO is calibrated to represent SBCO inks, dots sizes and dot densities.

DESIGN CHARACTER
• It is important to consider advantages and limitations with flexographic printing.
• Print Gain and Print Registration are factors that should be closely evaluated to obtain optimum printability. (As a rule of thumb, make art at least 1 point rule bolder than on art for offset printing.)
• When printing solid with reverse type you may choose to increase minimum type sizes depending on the type style to be used.
• Solids do not print well with screens, fine lines, etc. When possible, it is advised to separate such copy on the same color into two stations on press. PRINT REGISTER

• 1/2 point weight minimum positive print
• 1 point weight minimum reverse print

TYPE SIZES
• 8 point caps minimum positive print
• 10 point caps (boldface) minimum reverse print
SCREENS
• Up to 110 line screens for combination plates
• Standard Flexo angles with a 60-degree anilox roller using round dots

HALFTONES
• 3 percent minimum dot size
• 15 percent to 88 percent torial range
• Proofs should not represent dots outside this range

* Minimum dot printed at 110 line screen will yield a 6 % dot size when printed flexco.
